Cirdan’s key partner in Australia, Australian Clinical Labs, has improved the stability and functionality of their pathology workflows through the successful deployment and upgrade of Cirdan’s Laboratory Information System (LIS) across their nationwide network of pathology labs. In an upgrade period of just under 3 hours, the Cirdan team was able to transfer over 29 years of Clinical Labs’ data, comprising more than 10 billion rows of migrated data, with 0% loss recorded. This makes it one of the most successful Cirdan ULTRA Go-Lives to date.
Australian Clinical Labs engaged Cirdan to upgrade its existing system database to ULTRA’s latest database on Oracle 19.
Australian Clinical Labs is a leading provider of pathology services in Australia. Clinical Labs’ 80+ NATA-accredited laboratories perform over 8 million episodes each year for a range of clients, including doctors, specialists, patients, hospitals, and corporate businesses.
Clinical Labs is one of the largest private hospital pathology businesses in Australia, servicing more than 90 private and public hospitals and a trusted provider of choice to some of the country’s leading private hospital groups.
Clinical Labs employs over 4,000 employees, including more than 80 RCPA-accredited pathologists and 500 scientists. Clinical Labs operate a network of over 1300 accredited collection centres across Australia, ensuring they are conveniently located for their patients.
Clinical Labs were attracted to upgrading Cirdan’s ULTRA LIS due to the change in database technology and related new functionality, supporting a virtual environment and allowing for greater robustness in disaster recovery and failover. This would ensure the continuity and security of Clinical Lab’s on-going operations.
Since the successful deployment of Cirdan’s ULTRA LIS, Clinical Labs has seen an improvement in stability, functionality, and supportability in moving to the new technology stack and database. This has enabled Clinical Labs to create a virtual lab environment, and will ensure that future upgrades of their LIS can be managed smoothly as they can easily relocate data to the new hardware through ULTRA.
Sean Jackson, CIO at Australian Clinical Labs, commented, “ULTRA is a state of the art, world-class LIS, and is a key component of our workflows and daily operations. It is a credit to the Cirdan and Clinical Labs’ teams that the Go-live was one of the smoothest that we have experienced for an IT project of this size”.
Speaking about the successful Go-Live, Dominic Saunders, APAC Executive Officer at Cirdan, commented “The Cirdan and Clinical Labs’ teams worked closely to ensure the success of the project, and we are delighted to bring Clinical Labs onto our latest technology platform and look forward to furthering our partnership in the future.”
