London Medical Laboratory (LML) has improved its lab efficiency and enhanced annual revenue growth by deploying Cirdan’s next generation Laboratory Information System, ULTRA. ULTRA improves the quality of patient care by delivering more timely and accurate results to both clinicians and patients.
Background and Business Need
London Medical Laboratory (LML) is an independent clinical testing specialist and provider of pathology diagnostics services to clients across the Healthcare sector. From its state-of-the-art laboratory in London, it offers tailor-made clinical pathology diagnostic services to medical professionals, health care providers and patients across the capital and beyond.
LML offers pathology testing solutions across a range of disciplines including clinical biochemistry, immunology, haematology, sexual health screening and molecular biology.
Following increased demands for testing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, LML has focused on long-term planning for its business. To ensure the laboratory could meet the business goals of today and the future, they required a next generation Laboratory Information System (LIS) to support their talented laboratory teams.
LML identified Cirdan’s ULTRA Laboratory Information System as the best solution for improving operational efficiencies while also advancing best practices and procedures and providing vital insights which support LML’s journey towards the next generation of connected healthcare. Cirdan shares the same passion for innovation and has a wealth of expertise in providing connected health solutions for customers and clients across the globe.
The Process/Approach
London Medical Laboratory’s move to a brand-new laboratory information system was completed by the joint project teams in a short time frame. This was largely due to the focused, value-driven work from the dedicated teams across both organisations. LML and Cirdan collaborated closely to implement the key functionality required for Go-Live.
With “phase 1” of Go-Live complete, ULTRA now provides laboratory workflow support, multiple critical systems’ interfaces, and vital management insights. Future phases will see the Cirdan team supporting LML in their use of ULTRA to achieve future strategic business goals.
By deploying Cirdan’s next generation LIS, ULTRA, LML has enhanced its workflows and boosted lab efficiency by streamlining operations within the lab.
Moving forward, LML and Cirdan have outlined plans for future phases of ULTRA post go-live, with both organisations committed to continuing to work together to provide smarter solutions. The team at London Medical Laboratory are excited by Cirdan’s development roadmap for ULTRA, with a particular focus on ULTRA Web, the revamped user interface. ULTRA Web has been designed to enhance the end-user experience, saving clinicians valuable time and resources by producing state-of-the-art reports and using automation software to end repetitive tasks, making digital transformation within the lab a more accessible reality.
The Results/ Impact
The timely deployment by Cirdan of ULTRA for LML was a result of the successful collaboration between both organisations with project team members engaged and working to achieve the best results. The Cirdan project team supported Go-Live by joining the LML team on-site. The success of LML’s ULTRA Go-Live was driven by London Medical Laboratory’s and Cirdan’s shared passion for innovation and improving wellbeing.
During the implementation project, LML were delighted by the depth of clinical insight and understanding of laboratory workflows applied by the Cirdan team. The team at Cirdan offered unique understanding and empathy with London Medical laboratory when deploying the ULTRA solution.
Since London Medical Laboratory‘s Go-Live with ULTRA, Cirdan has supported LML with a dedicated hypercare period and incorporating a 24/7/365 follow-the-sun support model provided by dedicated experts across the globe.
London Medical Laboratory is already seeing the benefits of deploying ULTRA. When asked about the impact the LIS has made so far, Benjamin Timm, LIMS IT Project Manager at London Medical Laboratory, commented, “The Cirdan team have been phenomenal during the intense part of the hypercare period. We are delighted with our deployment of ULTRA and the dedication and commitment the team at Cirdan have shown to improving our laboratory efficiency and workflows.”
Commenting on the successful Go-Live, Niall O’Donnell, Project Manager at Cirdan said, “London Medical Laboratory’s and Cirdan’s philosophies are very closely aligned. We both have a lot of ambition, and really prioritise our people and innovation as the pathways to sustainable success. The whole LML team have been a delight to work with. From the Cirdan side, we had the right people with the right skills available, and we made sure to work closely with the customer team. Together we were committed to owning the solution and driving to Go-Live as quickly as possible. We couldn’t have done with without both our talented, considerate team, and a customer with such drive and dedication.”
