Cirdan will attend and present at the Leaders in Diagnostics event in London on 7th November 2018. The event brings together diagnostic leaders from all disciplines to meet, network and share knowledge over the course of a day. The event is a catalyst for generating improvements within the diagnostic services in the NHS.

John McCaffrey, Sales Manager at Cirdan UK head office, will present a talk on ‘Making interoperability a reality with LIMS’. With over 30 years management experience in engineering and scientific products in worldwide markets, he has been involved with the integration of digital pathology solutions such as gross-imaging and whole slide imaging for customers around the world. Recent projects have included gross imaging integration at University Hospital Southampton and WSI integration at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. Cirdan’s global customer base requires an agile and forward looking approach to interoperability in order to meet the needs of both the public and private sectors.

At Leaders in Diagnostics, John will discuss the challenges laboratories face in regard to interoperability and how it is considered a priority issue for laboratory professionals around the world according to recent research carried out by Cirdan. The ability for LIMS to integrate with other systems is of paramount importance as failure to do so can lead to entire networks of systems not being able to function. This talk will discuss interoperability in the context of a modern Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) architecture and will include examples of the protocols and standards that are becoming widely adopted in the healthcare sector. It will include examples of where these interfaces are required and how they are used. Where possible, descriptions will be supported by real use cases.
