Local MP Sir Jeffery Donaldson recently visited Cirdan’s Headquarters in Lisburn to discuss the company’s latest innovations and successes in global export markets.
During his visit, Sir Jeffrey met with Cirdan’s CEO, Dr Hugh Cormican, and had a full tour of our facilities, meeting with our development teams and seeing first-hand some of our latest innovations in pathology imaging, laboratory information systems and work in AI and Digital Pathology. He also discussed our participation in the Smart Nano consortium and how links between business and local education bodies are helping drive innovation.
Sir Jeffrey had a full demonstration of Solas OR, Cirdan’s newly launched X-ray specimen system designed for breast surgery and biopsy suites. Solas OR has been designed, developed, and built by our Lisburn based engineering team and incorporates the latest imaging technology to provide rapid image capture of quality specimen images with high contrast levels, excellent definition, and clear views of microcalcifications and lesions.
Solas OR is the newest member of Cirdan’s family of imaging products, including the macro imaging system PathLite and the breast biopsy system CoreLite, which are exported globally to over 20 markets.
Sir Jeffery is passionate about innovation and how Northern Ireland businesses can develop world-leading technologies to drive exports, build high-value local jobs, and create long-term economic development. He was is also interested in looking at how companies like Cirdan can win business closer to home, for example within the UK and our public sector tender awards.
