This Thursday sees Lisburn medical devices company, Cirdan host a unique international conference on what lies ahead in pathology at the Lough Erne Resort in Co. Fermanagh. Pathology is a medical speciality that is concerned with the diagnosis of disease. The cutting-edge conference now in its fourth year will see delegates from a range of clinical, academic and business backgrounds travel to Northern Ireland from all over the world to learn and network with industry peers. As well as the UK and Ireland, some of the countries represented will include Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Israel, Canada, Switzerland and Sweden.
The expert international speaker panel for the event is made up of some of the best minds in the area of pathology and laboratory medicine, along with Northern Ireland’s own business speaker and mentalist, David Meade, who will add something a little different to the programme. Delegates will learn about new and emerging technologies, lines of research and procedural developments that are driving the future of pathology. Some of the ground breaking and novel topics that will be covered and that will undoubtedly impact future patient diagnosis include: the use of liquid biopsy in the detection and treatment of ovarian cancer; advances in digital pathology, such as the use of virtual and augmented reality; the impact of artificial intelligence tools in advancing diagnostic pathology and emerging neuropathology diagnostics.
