Andrew Annett is a Business Analyst for ULTRA instrument interfaces, based at Cirdan’s headquarters in Lisburn, N.Ireland. Andrew’s background is in Biomedical engineering and he first arrived at Cirdan as part of a 3 month summer placement during his studies. After achieving his degree, Andrew returned to Cirdan and has been with us ever since!

Job role at Cirdan

Andrew’s daily routine in Cirdan can vary from day to day. As part of the ULTRA Interfaces team, he acts as business analyst for the developers in the team which involves liaising with customers who have purchased instrument analysers and want these to be integrated into their ULTRA workflow. Andrew has an in depth understanding of the technical aspects of the instrument and works with the instrument vendors as well as our development team to achieve these integration projects. Undertaking discovery, drawing up specifications, and testing the developed solutions end-to-end is also a very important part of his daily work routine.

“Having a very dedicated and experienced team around me helps make the overall task of instrument implementation a lot easier… This was displayed recently during lockdown with many of our clients requiring interfaces developed, tested and installed urgently. The team worked tirelessly to achieve this, providing our clients with a much-needed ease of workload in the form of automated interfaces between ULTRA LIS and their COVID-19 analysers.”

Andrew is also involved in the development and delivery of ULTRA LIS product training content for internal staff and external clients, sales work in the form of demos and tender applications  as well as client support work.

Interest outside of work

Outside of work Andrew enjoys running and does this out and around his home in the Mournes:

“I love getting out to log a few miles, either alone or with my training group, but nothing beats the buzz of racing! I typically race between the distance of 5k and half marathon (sometimes racing in the mountains too if it means I get a trip away somewhere in Europe!) and on the odd occasion I have picked up some medals and titles in Northern Ireland. In seasons past I have had the privilege of being able to travel and race abroad while being part of Northern Ireland and Ireland teams at different world championship and commonwealth events.”
